• Brooklyn Grange, Brooklyn, Ny
A purple Carolina Herrera dress, floral-patterned wallpaper in the getting-ready suite, vibrant Scandinavian glassware, and color-coded summer flowers - details that were not to be missed when an art teacher married a sustainability consultant on the rooftop farm of The Brooklyn Grange for a summer wedding.
THE VISION
The “you had me at hello” moment was the opening sentence of their inquiry: “We heard you loved unconventional and out of the box designs.” I opened their inspiration deck to find hand-drawn sketches of flowers, a palette inspired by every color under the rainbow and detailed notes outlining a wedding flower vision that felt unconventional, abstract, but above all else, playful.

THE ceremony
With the Brooklyn Grange flowers in peak summer bloom, Ava & Jess wanted their ceremony chuppah to seamlessly blend in- a design that was minimal, not over-the-top, and honored the beauty of seasonal flowers. To achieve this, we sourced hops vine, the flowering plant essential in beer-making, and draped it around the chuppah’s structure for texture. Intentionally exposed gold mesh wire added a subtle contrast inspired by transparency. Dangling and dripping moments of amaranthus, purple allium, dianthus, and crocosmia completemented Ava’s purple Carolina Herrera wedding dress.
THE RECEPTION
To create a contrast with the bright white backdrop of the venue, the tabletop settings featured clear, Scandinavian-inspired hand-blown bud vases and taper candle holders in vibrant, retro-inspired shapes. Guests were seated in acrylic ghost chairs and paired with pastel-colored linens that matched the irridescent understones of the bud vases at each guest’s place setting. As dusk approached, playful shadows were cast on the walls by the arrangements of anthurium, daisies, gloriosa, and cerulean-dyed sweetpea.
the ceiling installation
One of the most memorable moments of this wedding was the design of the ceiling installation. After a venue walkthrough together, the couple decided they wanted a greenery installation that was expansive and immersive. This collaboration stands out as my fondest memory with a couple. While standing in the venue, the bride and I sketched a design that went beyond the typical foliage vines. We aimed for intentionality, harmonizing with the outdoor farm elements. Hops vine formed a snake-like shape throughout the ceiling at varying levels, suspended wispy ferns created a cloud-like effect, and garlands of hundreds of amaranthus stems were added to the enchanting display.
